Snead eyes TD record, reaches 2,000 career yards
For the season,
Caleb Snead owns 766 yards receiving on 52 catches with eight touchdowns. Snead's 766 yards with three games remaining already ranks third in the Campbell single-season record book, as does his eight scores, behind Aaron Blockmon's 2016 season (1,038 yards, 10 TDs) and Snead's 2018 campaign (810, 9). Snead also ranks second in receptions with 52, just behind Blockmon's 54 from 2016.
The Lynchburg, Va. native leads the Big South in TD receptions and yards, while standing sixth and seventh nationally. Playing in 28 career games, the redshirt senior became the second Camel in history to surpass 2,000 career receiving yards (now with 2,130).
With 23 career receiving touchdowns, he tied the Campbell career record, matching Blockmon (2015-18). He is also second behind Blockmon in career receiving yards (2,647).
Snead is just the fourth Camel in history to score at least 20 career touchdowns, along with De'Shawn Jones' 22 (2013-16), and trailing only Blockmon (2015-18) and Daniel Smith (2017-18), who both scored 25 career TDs.
Record watch
In addition to Snead being on the verge of setting CU career and single season marks, other Camels are in striking distance to top the record books.
Quarterback
Wiley Hartley, despite playing only six of Campbell's eight games, has completed 14 touchdown passes, currently ranking fourth all-time, trailing Daniel Smith's 18 in 2017. He has completed 126 passes this season, tied with Daniel Smith's 2018 total for seventh in a category led by Brian Hudson's 183 in 2013. Hartley also ranks sixth in single season passing yards with 1,602, eyeing Hudson's 2013 record of 2,184.
One of the country's leading pass rushers,
Brevin Allen could also top the CU record books by year's end. The senior's 14.5 tackles for loss this year ranks third all-time, trailing Jeremiah Robinson's 17.5 in 2011. Allen also ranks second in sacks with 7.5, behind Emmanuel Olenga's 8.5 2017, and tied with Robinson (2011), Isaac Scott (2012) and Ugonna Awuruonye (2014).
With 15.0 career sacks, Allen is also third all-time in CU history, behind Isaac Scott (2011-14) with 17.5, and Ugonna Awuruonye (2013-15) with 20.5. Allen also ranks third in career tackles for loss with 28.5. Awuruonye stands ahead of Allen with 34.5, and led by Jack Ryan's 36.5 (2015-18).

Defense surging
Campbell owns 22 takeaways on the season, all over its last six games, leading the FCS in the category for the 2021 season.
In the win at North Alabama to open Big South play, CU notched two defensive touchdowns (fumble or interception return) in a game for just the third time in its modern era (since 2008), accomplishing the feat for the first time against a Division I opponent. The Camels also scored two defensive TDs against Apprentice in 2011 (fumble return, interception return) and at Carthage in 2008 (two interception returns). It was the first time a Campbell team had returned two fumbles for touchdowns in a game.
Campbell scored its FCS leading fourth defensive touchdown of the season last week against No. 11 Kennesaw State.
Levi Wiggins picked up a
CJ Tillman forced fumble and returned the ball 94 yards for the TD. It marked the longest fumble return in Campbell history.
Campbell owns 14 non-offensive touchdowns since 2017.
