Game 1- Campbell 8, Mount St. Mary's 0 (6 inn.)
The Camels offensive explosion began quickly in the first inning, as the 2-3 duo in the Campbell batting lineup of
Claudia Ware and
Bri Bryant stayed hot from the previous night, as Ware ripped a double down the third-base line before Bryant brought her in with an RBI double to left-center.
Kayla Fredendall became the first to wear the Camel homerun chain this season as she sent an 0-1 fastball over the wall to score her and Bryant and extend the lead 3-0.
The final two runs of the inning would come from a
Sterling Hairston two-RBI double that cleared the Mount's center fielder scoring
Alexa Pagano and
Morgan Rios pushing the lead to five runs.
In the bottom of the fourth,
Alexa Pagano would record two RBIs herself, doubling off the wall in left center scoring Rios and
Zaria Dunlap who was pinch-running for Fredendall.
Fredendall would put the exclamation point on Campbell's emphatic win in the bottom of the sixth inning, as she sent a 1-0 fastball towering over the right field wall as a defacto walk-off bringing in the run-rule into effect.
Redshirt freshman
Kayla Howald (1-1) picked up the win in the decision after not giving up any runs and only two hits across five innings of work. Mount Saint Mary's Amanda Berkley (1-1) took the loss after giving up five earned runs off six hits in two innings pitched.
Game 2 - Campbell 1, N.C. Central 0
