BUIES CREEK, N.C. - The Camels hung close for most of the game until a six-run sixth inning by the Colonels blew the game open on the way to an 8-3 victory for Eastern Kentucky.
The Colonels struck first in the fourth with an RBI sacrifice fly to right field, before the Camels would answer in the fifth with an RBI sacrifice fly of their own courtesy of Bri Bryant making it 1-1.
EKU's Jasmine Miller put the Colonels back in the lead in the sixth with an RBI single up the middle keeping the bases loaded.
Carly Robinson would then clear the bases with a grand slam over the left-field wall making it 6-1 Colonels.
A Zoe Mihalicz sacrifice fly to right field would bring home the sixth and final run of the inning.
Campbell would get two runs back in the sixth thanks to a two-run double to left from Claudia Ware, but it would not be enough as the Colonels added another run in the seventh, and the game-ending 8-3.
Megan Richards (1-1), who came in as a relief pitcher takes the loss after giving up three runs, two earned on four hits striking out four in two innings pitched.
EKU's Samantha Reynoso (3-0), gets the win with one and two-thirds innings pitched in relief giving up two runs off five hits, striking out one.
