BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Eight Camels combined for 15 goals, including four from
Julianna Sanchez, pushing Campbell past Radford 15-5 Saturday in its Big South opener.
CU moved to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in Big South games with the win, while Radford dipped to 0-7 on the season. Campbell is now 6-0 all-time against the Highlanders.
The Camels jumped out to a 10-2 halftime lead behind four first half points from
Lizzie Yurchak, two goals and two assists, and three goals from
Sam Bischoff.
Sanchez added two goals in the second frame, and Campbell led by as much as 11 before taking the 15-5 win. Campbell picked up 24 of the game's 36 ground balls, committing a season-low eight turnovers.
Sanchez added seven draw controls, while Yurchak and
Sam Bischoff also posted four points, with Bischoff registering three goals and an assist.
Kyla Azzato tacked on two goals off the bench, while
Rebekah Taylor forced three turnovers with two ground balls.
Alex Salim also made five saves, all in the first half, with two ground balls.
Ava Goeller led Radford with four points on three goals and an assist, while Margaret Gleason collected two ground balls and two caused turnovers.
After playing four of its first five games at home, the Camels will step back into nonconference play, traveling to William & Mary on March 20. CU returns home on March 27, hosting Furman.
