BUIES CREEK - Taya Bolden and Lauren McNamara-Clement both finished with double-doubles and Campbell never trailed defeating UNC Asheville 65-34, Tuesday night in Gore Arena.
Campbell (13-6, 10-4) earned a 10th Big South victory for a third straight season tonight.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Campbell outscored Asheville 16-4 in the first quarter and never looked back as the Bulldogs never brought its deficit within single digits
- Bolden and McNamara-Clement led the Campbell offense that found 28 of its 36 first-half points in the paint
- The Camels pushed its lead to as many as 32 on a Tatyana Carver three pointer with 7:18 to play in the final period, eventually settling for its second 30+ point win of the season at the final horn
NOTABLES
- This marked the first time this season Campbell has had two players with double-doubles as Bolden finished with 16 points and 11 boards in 19 minutes and McNamara-Clement finished with 13 points and 10 boards in just 18 minutes
- Bolden notched her eight double-double of the season and 24th of her career while McNamara-Clement earned her first double-double since her freshman season against N.C. Central (13 points, 12 boards)
- Brittany Staves tied her career-high with 15 points, making 3-of-4 shots from range, in 35 minutes
- Shy Tuelle, who went without a three-pointer for only the fourth time this season, had a season-high eight rebounds to go along with five assists
- Asheville was out-rebounded by Campbell 17-3 in the first quarter and 49-29 overall marking the largest rebounding margin (+20) of the season for the Camels
- All but one player recorded a rebound for the Camels
- Campbell shot 49.2% from the field while holding the Bulldogs to a season-low 22.8%
- The Camels held a 44-8 advantage in points in the paint, 11-0 advantage in second chance points and outscored Asheville's bench 24-12
- The leading scorer in the Big South, Nadiria Evans who averaged 18.2 PPG coming into the matchup, was held to a season-low two points on 1-of-10 shooting from the field
- Tamiah Lewis led the Bulldogs with eight points while Amaryah Corpening added seven
- Bolden moved to 4th all-time on the program's all-time rebounding list with 915 total, breaking a tie with Ronda Mueller (1978-82) and surpassing Regina McKeithan's (1984-88) total of 912
