Leading the Camels
Sam Bischoff and
Julianna Sanchez have both netted a team-high 15 goals, while Sanchez has collected 56 draw controls and 11 ground balls.
Megan Matthews tacks on 15 points on eight assists and seven goals, while
Ally Heath owns 11 points on seven goals and four helpers.
Defensively,
Chandler Stewart,
Rebekah Taylor and
Lizzie Yurchak have all forced a team-high seven turnovers, combining for 36 ground balls, while
Kennedy Boyle owns 11 ground balls and five caused turnovers.
Alex Salim also owns a .418 save percentage, just off the Big South lead.
Last time out
William & Mary outscored Campbell 11-1 in the second half to rally past the visiting Camels 16-12 Saturday night.
Campbell closed the first half with seven straight goals to build an 11-5 halftime lead.
Julianna Sanchez netted a first half hat trick, while
Sam Bischoff and
Rasa Welsh scored twice for the Camels in the opening frame. Welsh also assisted on three goals, with CU converting 5-of-7 free position tries in the first half.
After the break, William & Mary scored the first five goals of the second half before Bischoff's third free position score of the night. The Tribe closed the game with six consecutive goals, including three of Belle Martire's five second half goals.
After Campbell scored 11 goals on 19 shots in the first, the Tribe, who went scoreless after Martire's score with 17:17 remaining in the opening stanza, limited the Camels to nine second half shots, while posting 18 shots, including 16 on frame.
Welsh named Big South Freshman of the Week
After leading Campbell with five points on the road,
Rasa Welsh was named the Big South's Freshman of the Week.
Welsh, a rookie from Ellicott City, Md., scored twice and assisted on three more Campbell goals, all in the first half at William and Mary. Both of the freshman's goals came on free position attempts, going 2-for-3 on the night from the arc, while adding a ground ball against the Tribe.
For the year, Welsh owns 10 points on four goals and six assists, with six ground balls and four caused turnovers.
Welsh is the fifth Camel so far this season to earn Big South weekly honors.
Scouting Coastal Carolina
The Chanticleers head into Wednesday's matinee at 6-2 on the year, with their only losses coming against nationally ranked Elon and High Point. The Camels will be Coastal's fourth contest against Big South opponents this season. The Chanticleers also defeated former conference rivals Radford and Winthrop to start 2021.
Samantha Courtemanche owns a team-high 39 points on 21 goals and 18 assists for the Chanticleers, while Kayla Downey has tallied 28 points on 16 goals and 12 assists. Emily D'Orsaneo adds 19 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers, while Claire Martell has posted a .481 save percentage and an 8.81 goals against average.
With the series dating back to Campbell's first season of lacrosse in 2013, CCU holds a 7-1 advantage over the Camels. Wednesday will mark the fourth time the Camels and Chanticleers will meet as nonconference foes.

Campbell returns home on Saturday, March 27, hosting Furman at noon. The Camels will get back to Big South play on April 3 at Winthrop.
