BUIES CREEK, N.C. - The Camels swept their Sunday doubleheader against N.C. Central, taking game one 9-0 (5 inn.) and game two 5-1.
With the pair of wins, Campbell now improves to 17-10 on the season and pushes the current win streak to 10 in a row, the longest in the Big South.
N.C. Central now drops to 5-22 on the season with the losses.
Game 1 - Campbell 9, N.C. Central 0 (5 inn.)
The Camels high scoring offense got to work quickly scoring three runs in the first inning off a
Kayla Fredendall sacrifice fly and a
Delaney McDilda 2-RBI single to left field.
Two more runs would come for the Camels in the second inning as
Destini England's grounder to shortstop would be enough to score Madeline Whitely from third, and
Bri Bryant would score on a wild pitch.
The final runs of the game would come in the third inning, as
Delaney McDilda would triple to right field to score two before Bryant and
Sterling Hairston would drive in the last two runs making it 9-0 enacting the run-rule after five innings.
Megan Richards (6-3), picked up the win, going for a complete-game shutout with five innings of work only allowing two hits, no runs, and earning three strikeouts.
Central's Jaylah Barr (0-5) took the loss with two innings pitched giving up seven runs off five hits.
Game 2 - Campbell 5, N.C. Central 1
Kiana Jones opened the scoring in the second inning with an RBI single to left field that would score Hairston and put McDilda in position at third to score on a wild pitch during the next at-bat.
After a Fredendall sacrifice fly would put the Camels up 3-0, the Eagles would get one run back in the fourth inning.
Insurance would come for the Camels though as Ware and Bryant would both pickup RBI singles to center field to extend the lead to 5-1.
Georgeanna Barefoot (8-3) got the win for the Camels throwing for four innings giving up one run on five hits with five strikeouts.
Central's Caroline Campbell (3-5), took the loss with two innings pitched allowing three runs off four hits.
