Camels fall to UNCW, 2-1

WILMINGTON, N.C. - Campbell's 10-game win streak was ended by UNC Wilmington Wednesday night, falling 2-1.

The Camels would threaten early, getting their first two batters on base, however were denied the runs as Bri Bryant would be thrown out at home from left field attempting to score on a Kayla Fredendall single.

The Seahawks' only runs of the night came in the first inning, courtesy of a throwing error and an RBI groundout.

UNCW's offense would be controlled the rest of the game only getting one more after the opening frame.

Campbell would pull one run back in the third inning, with Fredendall bringing Bryant in from third on a fielder's choice to second base.

There would be no more offensive opportunities though for the Camels unable to get a runner into scoring position for the rest of the game.

Wilmington's Amberlyn Pearce (3-6) got the complete-game win in the circle, going seven innings allowing only one run off eight hits getting five strikeouts.

Georgeanna Barefoot (8-5) got the loss pitching for six innings, allowing two runs off three hits.
