BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Three Camels have been honored on the Big South all-conference women's tennis teams.
Ana Castillo was named first-team all-conference in singles and doubles as well as the Big South all-academic team.
Rhona Cook was named second-team all-conference in singles, while Anna-Marie Kopecká earned first-team doubles recognition.
A senior from Maracay-Aragua, Venezuela, Castillo claimed all-league honors for the third year. She posted a 7-5 record in singles and teamed with Kopecká to post a 6-3 record at number one doubles. The 2018 Big South freshman of the year, Castillo concluded her career with a 56-44 singles mark and 62-33 record in doubles. In addition, Castillo owns a 3.3 grade-point average as a double major in marketing and management. She won the ITA Scholar-Athlete award in 2020.
"Ana has done so much for Campbell women's tennis these last four years," said head coach
Mike Stevens. "She never stopped improving and it is wonderful to see her be recognized as Big South first-team all-conference for both singles and doubles."
A freshman from Chester, England, Cook finished the season 4-8 in singles play and 2-3 in Big South competition. In doubles, the lefthander posted a 7-1 record with three different partners, including a 3-0 mark at the top position.
"Rhona had a fantastic first year and because of her outstanding work ethic she finished the season as a top singles and doubles player in the conference," said Stevens. "It's great to see her be recognized for her hard work."
Kopecká, who hails from Prague, Czech Republic, finished 7-5 overall in doubles, including the 6-3 mark with Castillo, and compiled a 6-6 singles record during her freshman season.
"Anna had a great spring and worked extremely hard all season," said Stevens. "She has some of the quickest hands of any player I've seen in doubles and was a huge asset for us winning many doubles points. Her improvement in singles throughout the spring made her one of the best singles players in the Big South as well."
