CLINTON, S.C. – Behind goals from 13 different Camels, Campbell cruised to a 23-8 win at Presbyterian on Saturday, finishing 2021 unbeaten in Big South road contests.
The Camels moved to 7-6 overall and 4-1 in Big South matchups, including a 3-0 mark in league road games, while PC dips to 4-8 on the season and 1-3 in Big South play.
Campbell's 23 goals are one short of its program single-game record, set in 2019 against Presbyterian.
Building an eight goal lead at the break, Campbell scored its most goals in a half this season with 14 in the opening frame, finishing the first half with a 9-1 run. The goal barrage continued into the second with Campbell scoring the first seven goals of the half, wrapping a 16-1 run around the break.
Campbell owned a 23-9 advantage on the draw, putting up a season-high 45 shots, including 34 on goal, compared to 20 total shots and 14 on goal for PC.
Julianna Sanchez,
Lizzie Yurchak and
Maggie Dolan all finished with five points for the Camels, with Sanchez notching four goals, an assist, a CU single-game record 15 draw controls, breaking her own mark set just last week.
Yurchak and Dolan both posted two goals and three assists, while
Kyla Azzato tacked on a hat trick off the bench with three goals and an assist.
Megan Matthews and
Sam Bischoff also collected three points apiece, while
Ally Heath and
Olivia Ohlmann scored twice for the Camels.
Ohlmann added three ground balls and caused two turnovers, while
Emma Strickland saved six shots, all in the second half.
Abby Edmisten registered a game-high six goals to lead the Blue Hose, and Meredith Moore picked up three ground balls with two caused turnovers in the loss.
Campbell returns home for its 2021 regular season finale on Saturday, April 24, hosting Longwood. The Big South Championship begins on April 30.
