Campbell draws Iowa in first round of NCAA Tournament

Camels to face Hawkeyes on April 27 at Eakes Athletics Complex

BUIES CREEK - The Campbell women's soccer team will face Iowa in the first round of the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship. The Camels are set to take on the Hawkeyes at 3:00 p.m. at Eakes Athletics Complex in Buies Creek, North Carolina.

Campbell (8-3-1) makes its second NCAA Tournament appearance and first since 2004 when the team earned an automatic bid after winning the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament. Campbell will also play its first NCAA Tournament game at home, becoming just the second program in Campbell Athletics history (Softball, 1995) to play a home NCAA Championship game in Buies Creek. 

The Camels earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament after capturing the program's second Big South Championship title since 1993 by defeating No. 24 High Point, 4-3 last Friday.

Iowa (6-8-1) earned an automatic bid to this season's 48-team field after a run in the Big Ten Regional Weekend and Big Ten Tournament, winning four straight games. The Hawkeyes claimed its first tournament title in program history after defeating Wisconsin, 1-0.

The Hawkeyes are making its second straight NCAA Tournament appearance and third in program history.

The Campbell-Iowa winner will face No. 3 national seed UCLA in the Second Round on Friday, April 30 at 3:00 p.m. at Eakes Athletics Complex.
