CONWAY, S.C. - The Camels dropped both games of their doubleheader against Coastal Carolina Wednesday, falling 7-6 (8 inn.) in game one and 6-4 in game two.
With the losses, Campbell falls to 20-13 on the season with Coastal improving to 15-19.
Game 1 - Coastal Carolina 7, Campbell 6
The Chanticleers would strike first with an RBI single in the first inning to give them a 1-0 lead, before
Bri Bryant hit a solo home run for her fourth in as many games to tie the game Campbell.
Coastal would respond with five runs in the second inning before a single out was recorded, which would bring about a pitching change as
Georgeanna Barefoot would come in for the starter
Kayla Howald.
Campbell was up to the challenge though, as they would tie the game in the third inning with
Claudia Ware and
Delaney McDilda hitting back-to-back home runs to lead off the inning.
Zaria Dunlap would go on to score the final run of the inning later, coming in from third on a passed ball to tie the game at 6-6.
Offensive production would then be shut down with no runs being scored by either team for the next four innings leading to extra innings.
Campbell would get runners to second and third but would be denied a run as
Sterling Hairston was caught in a rundown between third and home.
Makiya Thomas would then provide the walk-off winner for the Chanticleers with an RBI single to left field winning 7-6.
Coastal's Kaitlin Beasley Polko (8-8) got the win going all eight innings giving up six runs off 10 hits getting nine strikeouts.
Campbell's
Georgeanna Barefoot (10-5) took the loss with six and a third innings pitched allowing three runs (two earned) off five hits getting five strikeouts.
Game 2 - Coastal Carolina 6, Campbell 4
Bri Bryant would give the Camels a 1-0 lead in the third inning after hitting her second home run of the day.
Coastal would get three runs in response in the bottom of the third with a two-RBI double from Kayla Rosado and a throwing error on a fielder's choice later in the inning.
Campbell would tie the game at three in the fifth inning as
Claudia Ware would score on a wild pitch before
Kayla Fredendall singled to center field scoring McDilda.
The Chanticleers would find their winning runs in the fifth inning though hitting back-to-back home runs giving them a 6-3 lead.
The Camels would get runners to second and third in the sixth but were unable to produce any runs.
In the seventh, the Camels would get one run back courtesy of a
Diana Parker RBI single before eventually fell 6-4.
Iyania De Jesus (3-6) would get the win for Coastal going six and a third innings giving up four runs off five hits and earning four strikeouts.
Megan Richards (5-3) took the loss for Campbell with four innings pitched allowing six runs off of six hits.

Campbell will host Big South foe Radford for a three-game series starting May 1 at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium.
