BUIES CREEK, N.C. - The Camels completed the three-game sweep of Big South foe Radford today, taking both games of today's doubleheader, winning game one by a score of 3-1, before winning via walk-off in game two, 7-6.
The two wins improved Campbell to 23-13 on the season and 14-1 in Big South play to tighten the team's grip on first place in the conference.Â
The two losses drop Radford to 16-29 for the season and 9-9 in the Big South.
Game 1 - Campbell 3, Radford 1
Radford looked to have a big offensive game early, as Sydney Fisher leadoff for the Highlanders with a solo homer to right field. However, this would be Radford's only run of the game.
Neither team would threaten much offensively until Campbell finally broke through in the sixth inning for three runs.
Bri Bryant led the inning off with a big double off the wall, and would later score from third thanks to a sacrifice fly from
Claudia Ware to tie the game at 1 run apiece.
The Camels would then show off some speed, as
Destini England would score, on a daring suicide squeeze bunt laid down by
Delaney McDilda to make it 2-1.
The final run of the game would come off an error committed by the Radford first baseman who dropped a sure put out which allowed
Claire Blount to score.
Megan Richards (8-4) got her eighth complete game of the season and the win going seven innings allowing only one earned run off five hits getting four strikeouts.
Radford's SkylerDeHart (3-6) took the loss going five and a thirds innings allowing two earned runs off four hits.
Game 2 - Campbell 7, Radford 6
Radford hit another first-inning home run as Madison Canady launched an 0-2 fastball over the left field putting the Highlanders up 3-0.
Claire Blount would hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score
Bri Bryant to bring the Camels one run back before Radford would tack on another run in the second to make it 4-1 Highlanders.
Campbell would then score four unanswered runs across the next three innings to take a 5-4 lead.
Radford would respond with an RBI double in the sixth inning to tie the game, before taking a 6-5 lead in the seventh off a suicide squeeze.
The Camels would rally though, Ware would lead the inning off with a double down the left field line before
Claire Blount would hit her own double to bring Ware across to score and tie the game at 6-6.
Kayla Fredendall would provide the late-game heroics hitting a walk-off single to right center scoring Blount and giving the Camels the 7-6 victory and series sweep.
Kayla Howald (5-4) got the win in relief pitching the one inning giving up one earned run off three hits.
Radford's Riley Oakes got the loss with two and a third innings pitched allowing two earned runs off four hits.

Campbell will take its school-record 14-game Big South win streak on the road to Presbyterian for a three-game series beginning May 6 where the Camels look to clinch the Big South regular-season title.
