BUIES CREEK - Jessica Donald, Laney Peabody and Cameron Turner of Campbell women's soccer have all been named recipients of the Player of Distinction Award from the United Soccer Coaches, the organization announced on Friday.
The award, which is new this season, was created for its member head coaches to submit deserving players based on one or more of the following criteria:
- Player has achieved quality performance on the field;
- Represented the highest ideals of team leadership;
- Exhibited quality character attributes including sportsmanship and respect for teammates, opponents, officials and the game in general;
- Made other significant contributions to the benefit of the program and the community
Campbell had the only Big South selections on the women's side in Donald, Peabody and Turner.Â
The three individuals were among 184 men and 325 women across NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, in addition to NAIA, NCCAA and Junior College. Division I recognitions totaled 85 for the women and 60 for the men.
