Camels head to Longwood for midweek matchup

CU on 2-game win streak

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Riding a two-game win streak, Campbell (9-6, 2-2) heads to Longwood (10-5, 2-0) Wednesday for a 7:00 p.m. tip on ESPN+.

The Camels made their last six shots and closed Saturday's 70-58 win over Radford on an 18-1 run.  Jordan Whitfield led the Camels with 17 points and in the process passed the 1,000 career-point mark.  Ricky Clemons added 14 points – 12 in the second half – and CU held Radford without a field goal over the final 4:21.

Longwood has won 3-straight overall, including its first two Big South contests.  The Lancers defeated Radford on the road in OT (83-75) last Wednesday before downing Gardner-Webb 66-60 in Farmville.  Wake Forest transfer Isaiah Wilkins scored 20 points for Longwood, which shot just 34 percent, but scored 14 second-chance points and added 15 off turnovers.

  • Longwood is 9-1 at home this season and has won its last five at Willett Hall since a Nov. 21 loss to Western Carolina.
  • Campbell is 3-4 away from home, 2-4 in true road games.  CU has lost its last three away from home (at VCU 65-61, at UNCW 68-58) and at Winthrop 74-72) by a total of 13 points.
  • Campbell has held 14 of its 15 opponents below 70 points and ranks first in the Big South, 20th in the nation, in scoring defense (60.0).
  • Four Camels rank among the Big South's top 30 scorers - Cedric Henderson, Jr. (12th, 12.5), Jordan Whitfield (22nd, 11.2) Jesus Carralero (23rd, 10.9), and Ricky Clemons (27th, 10.7).
  • Following Wednesday's contest, the Camels travel Saturday to North Carolina A&T for a 5:00 p.m. tip-off against the Big South's newest member.
