Camels pull away from Radford 58-41

Big South leaders win ninth-straight game

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell used a 20-6 run in the second half to pull away from Radford 58-41 Saturday at Gore Arena.

Faith Price led the Camels (12-3, 6-0 Big South) with 15 points, while Taya Bolden recorded her eighth-straight double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.  Brittany Staves added 10 points for the Camels, who extended their win streak to nine games.

Bridget Birkhead and Alyssa Chapman led Radford (4-11, 0-4) with eight points apiece.  The Highlanders dropped their eight-consecutive outing after shooting 32 percent and committing 25 turnovers that the Camels converted into 25 points.

Campbell led 26-20 at the break, but the Highlanders drew within 28-26 with 5:48 to play in the third on Vanessa Blake's jumper in the paint.  However, Campbell held Radford without a field goal for the next nine minutes.

Luana Serranho, Price and Staves knocked down three-pointers in the decisive burst and the Camels led 50-32 after Price made a pair from the line with 3:36 to play.

Campbell, which led by as many as 20, shot just 39 percent for the game (22-56), but made 8-of-12 from the floor in the final quarter, including 3-of-4 beyond the arc, and canned all eight of its free throws.

The Camels, who entered the game fifth nationally in scoring defense (50.2), held their opponent below 50 points for the ninth time this season.

Campbell's 6-0 start in league play is its best since re-joining the Big South in 2011-12 and the program's hottest since the 2010-11 won its first seven ASUN games.

CU returns to action Monday at home vs. Hampton (7:00 p.m.) on ESPN+.  According to University Health & Safety guidelines, no spectators will be allowed at Campbell home events through Jan. 25.
