SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Chellia Watson scored 32 points to lead USC Upstate past Campbell 81-62 Saturday at the G.B. Hodge Center.
Taya Bolden had 16 points and 10 boards as Campbell (14-4, 8-1) saw its 11 game win streak snapped and dropped its first Big South matchup of the season.
USC Upstate (13-5, 5-2) led 22-9 at the end of the first quarter and never looked back. The Spartans, which led by as many 23 on the afternoon, shot 62.5 percent (30-48) from the field and 56.3 percent (9-16) from three.
Campbell was held to 36.1 percent (22-61) from the field and 27.6 percent (8-29) from behind the arc.
Upstate finished with a 36-24 edge in points in the paint and outscored the Camels 11-0 on fast breaks.
CU had 27 points off the bench led by 14 from Shy Tuelle and eight from Audrey Fuller. Luana Serranho dished eight assists and added five points.
Watson, who played all 40 minutes for the Spartans, made 11-of-19 shots including 5-of-7 threes.
