BUIES CREEK, N.C. – After opening Big South play with a win, Campbell's
CJ Tillman and
Corey Petersen have been named conference players of the week.
Tillman has been named the Big South's defensive player of the week, while Petersen earned special teams honors.
A sophomore from Rockingham, Tillman registered a career-high 12 tackles in
Campbell's 34-28 win over Charleston Southern on Saturday. The linebacker added a tackle for loss, one of a season-best nine for the Camels on the day. Tillman also returned a kickoff 15 yards, helping set up
Caleb Dowden's 40-yard field goal to put CU up 24-14 just before the half.
Petersen, meanwhile, punted five times in the six point win, averaging 42.6 yards per punt. A Traralgon, Australia native, Petersen booted two punts over 50 yards, including a 53 yarder, and pinned the Buccaneers inside their own 20 three times. He was also recently named to the
FCS Punter of the Year Watch List.
Through five games, Camels have earned Big South weekly honors seven times.
Campbell will host its third straight home game this week, welcoming
Robert Morris on October 15.
