Camels return to action with two road meets

BUIES CREEK - Campbell returns to action after a week off with a pair of road meets at Gardner-Webb and UNC Asheville. The Camels face the Runnin' Bulldogs Friday at 5 p.m. and then head to Asheville for a meet Saturday at morning at 10:30.

Campbell sits at 3-4 on the year with wins coming over UNC Pembroke, Chowan and Barton. The last time the Camels swam was at a tri-meet in Wilmington, N.C. where Campbell fell to both UNCW and Georgia Tech.

Friday will be the first scored meet of the season for GWU after swimming an exhibition with VMI on Oct. 15. Gardner-Webb finished seventh at the CCSA meet last season, two spots behind Campbell. The Runnin' Bulldogs are led by head coach Mike Blum.

A short turnaround leads the Camels into the meet with UNC Asheville at 10:30 the following morning. The Bulldogs are 1-0 on the year with a 160-140 win over ECU back on Oct. 1. Asheville, who also fields a diving team, finished third at the CCSA meet in 2022. Asheville is led by Elizabeth Lykins.

Campbell faced both squads during the 2021-22 regular season, each at separate home tri-meets. Campbell topped GWU 175-86 and fell to Asheville152-109.

Both matches this weekend will have live results available on MeetMobile.
