Camels close fall season at Olde Stone

13-team event includes Indiana, Louisville and Notre Dame

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell concludes its fall schedule next week in the Olde Stone Intercollegiate, hosted by Western Kentucky and Louisville at The Club at Olde Stone in Bowling Green, Ky.
 
One of eight top-100 ranked teams in the 13-school field, Campbell will be paired with Western Kentucky, Santa Clara and South Alabama for Monday's first two rounds on the par-72, 6235-yard Olde Stone layout.  The 54-hole event concludes Tuesday.
 
Campbell opened the season with a record-shattering performance at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club in Pawley's Island, S.C.  While claiming the Golfweek Fall Challenge title for the sixth time since 2012, the Camels tied a school 54-hole record (834, -18), set the program 36-hole mark (556) and posted three of the top nine rounds in the program's history (279-277-278).
 
CU then placed eighth at the Golf Iconic Classic at the New Mexico State Golf Course and followed with a fifth-place showing earlier this week at The Southern in Savannah, Ga.
 
Head coach John Crooks and assistant coach Ashley Sloup will start a lineup that includes two seniors – Tomita Arejola and Patricia Garre Munoz – junior Sanna Lundmark and two freshmen – Taylah Ellems and Isabella Hahne.
 
Play on Monday commences with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.  Tuesday's final round is set for a 9:00 a.m. shotgun.

The Course - The Club at Olde Stone (Par 72, 6235 yards): Designed by Arthur Hills, The Club at Olde Stone was recognized in the 2007 edition of Golf Digest's Best New Private Courses at #8. Created with deep respect for the land, Mr. Hills was given freedom to create a masterpiece on terrain that he describes as "one of the absolute best sites we've worked on." Newly added Zeon Zoysia fairways and classic bentgrass greens are dotted with 99 bunkers.
 
The Coach: Now in his 33rd year in charge of the Campbell men's golf program and 32nd as head coach of the CU women, John Crooks has been named league coach of the year 23 times in his tenure.  His teams have combined to earn 34 NCAA post-season trips, including 10 in a row for the women.  His teams have won 158 tournaments and with 97 career tournament titles, Crooks trails only Dan Brooks of Duke (140) on the all-time coaching victories list among Division I women's coaches.  He has guided his teams to 26 league titles, including 18 on the women's side and eight in men's competition.
 
The Lineup:
Junior Sanna Lundmark (Skellefea, Sweden) owns the fifth-best stroke average in the Big South Conference (73.56).  She finished T8th (73-69-68—210) at the Golfweek Fall Challenge and is coming off a sixth-place finish at The Southern on the Donald Ross-designed Savannah Golf Course.
 
Senior Tomita Arejola (Quezon City, Philippines) ranks second among Big South Conference golfers with a 72.67 scoring average.  She finished as runner-up at the Golfweek Fall Challenge, where she shot 8-under 205 (70-70-65), including a collegiate low 6-under in the final round.  She added a second top-10 finish at The Southern, where he tied for seventh.
 
Senior Patricia Garre Munoz (Murcia, Spain) posted a T15 finish at The Southern in her 2022-23 debut after missing the first two events due to injury.  Her scoring average stands at 76.67 through three rounds.
 
Red-shirt freshman Taylah Ellems (Canberra, Australia) owns a 76.11 scoring average while playing all nine rounds for CU this fall.  She posted a two-under 69 at the Golfweek Fall Challenge, where she finished T32nd.
 
Freshman Isabella Hahne (Kungsbacka, Sweden) owns the 10th-lowest scoring average (74.56) among Big South golfers.  She tied for 15th in her collegiate debut at the Golfweek Fall Challenge, (70-69-74—213) and followed that with a T11th finish at the Golf Iconic Classic (69-73-75—217).
