Smith's no-hitter caps off Camels sweep in Jacksonville

Campbell goes 3-1 at River City Leadoff tournament

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. - Isabella Smith' no-hitter capitalized Campbell's sweep Saturday at the River City Leadoff on the campus of Jacksonville University.

Campbell (3-1) defeated Western Carolina (3-1) in the first game while defeating Jacksonville 18-0 (5 inn.) in the second game of the day.

Game One - Campbell defeats Western Carolina, 3-1
Campbell scored all three of its runs in the third inning and held off Western Carolina for a 3-1 win.

After a RBI single put the Catamounts up 1-0 in the second, Campbell answered as a bases loaded walk tied the game. Savannah White drove in two more runs on an RBI double.

Georgeanna Barefoot (2-0) held off WCU for the remaining innings after allowing no earned runs in her second complete game of the season.

Katelyn Chisholm and Sterling Hairston both hit doubles for the Camels who defeated Western Carolina in the first meeting between both programs.

Game Two - Campbell defeats Jacksonville, 18-0 (5 inn.)
Smith's no-hitter was coupled with a strong performance as the plate as the Camels picked up an 18-0 win over hosts Jacksonville in 5 innings.

After scoring three runs in the first, Delaney McDilda hit a grand slam in the 2nd give CU a 7-0 lead.

Eight different Camels had hits and batted in runs in total. McDilda finished with two hits and five RBI while scoring five runs.

Claudia Ware finished with three hits while Alexa Pagano added two hits and two RBI. Sterling Hairston also had two RBI and drew three bases on balls.

Smith (1-1), who faced 17 batters, struck out eight and allowed one walk for her first win at Campbell.

Campbell hosts UNC Greensboro at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium on Wednesday for its first home game of the 2022 season.
