BUIES CREEK, N.C. – After a season-opening win on the road, Campbell's
Emma Strickland and
Kaitlyn Gallagher have been named Big South women's lacrosse players of the week.
Strickland was named the league's defensive player of the week, while Gallagher was tabbed freshman of the week after making her collegiate debut in Campbell's 19-8 win at Stetson on Saturday.
Strickland, making her first career start in goal for the Camels, registered 12 saves, doubling the sophomore's previous career single-game best. The Roswell, Ga. native added a team-high six ground balls in the victory.
Gallagher, meanwhile, came off the bench to dish out three assists, all coming in the second half to help CU pull away from the Hatters.
This marks the fifth time over the last two seasons (2021 and 2022) that Camels have earned multiple Big South weekly honors during the same week.
Next up for CU will be a trip to in-state nonconference foes Davidson on February 23 and Elon on March 2. Campbell will make its home debut on March 19, taking on William & Mary.
