BUIES CREEK, N.C. – After winning her second collegiate event, Emily Hawkins of Campbell University has been named the Big South Conference women's golfer of the week.
 
Hawkins was the lone player in the 95-golfer field to finish in red numbers (1-under 215) after firing rounds of 73-70-72 on the Donald Ross designed San Jose CC in Jacksonville, Fla.  She led the Camels to their third team title of the year at the Sea Best Intercollegiate.
 
A senior from Lexington, N.C., Hawkins recorded her fifth-straight top-10 finish in as many starts during the 2021-22 season.
 
After an opening round 73, Hawkins made only four bogeys while making six birdies over her final 36 holes to finish one stroke in front of Seminole State's Minori Nagano (71-70-75—216).  Hawkins topped all individuals in pars (39), par-3 (-1) and par-4 (+1) scoring and finished T7 in birdies (8).
 
Hawkins leads all Big South golfers with a 70.67 stroke average.
 
She moved up to No. 13 in the country in the latest Golfstat Cup rankings and stands No. 45 in the Golfstat individual rating.  Five time defending Big South champion Campbell moved up to No. 59 in the Golfstat team rankings.
 
The Camels return to action Mar. 5-6 with the Gators Invitational at Mark Bostick GC in Gainesville, Fla.
