Lacrosse hosts ECU on Wednesday

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell will host East Carolina on Wednesday, March 22, at noon at Barker-Lane Stadium in its final nonconference tune up.

Wednesday's game, originally slated for a 5:00 p.m. start, was moved up to avoid potential severe weather.

Wednesday will also feature the first Dollar Dogs Day at Barker-Lane Stadium for the 2022 season, with $1 hot dogs available at concessions.

Campbell is 3-3 on the season, coming off a 20-15 loss to William & Mary in its home opener on Saturday.

For the season, Sam Bischoff and Megan Matthews both own 24 points to lead the Camels, with Bischoff posting 18 goals and six assists to go along with nine ground balls, five caused turnovers and 21 draw controls. Matthews has tallied a team-high 13 assists with 11 goals, while Julianna Sanchez has posted 21 points with 17 goals and 54 draw controls, ranking fifth in the country with 9.0 draw controls per game.

Chandler Stewart, who posted a career-high four caused turnovers against the Tribe, owns seven caused turnovers for the season with eight ground balls. Rebekah Taylor has also registered 11 ground balls with five caused turnovers, while Emma Strickland has snagged 50 saves in goal.

Campbell's offensive attack ranks as one of the best in the nation, standing ninth overall in goals per game (16.0), as well as fifth in shots on goal per game (27.0) and sixth in draw controls per game (18.0).

The Pirates are 5-5 on the season, dropping five of their last six after starting the season 4-0. Frances Kimel leads ECU with 35 points on 16 goals and 19 assists, while Megan Tryniski owns 32 points on 18 goals and 14 assists. Alexandra Giacolone has also collected 22 ground balls with 12 caused turnovers.

The series between the Camels and ECU is tied at 2-2, including 1-1 in Buies Creek.

Next up, the Camels will begin Big South play at High Point on Wednesday, March 30. Campbell will return home on April 2, hosting Winthrop for its 2022 Senior Day and Alumni Day.
