BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Ellie Bromley notched a game-high six points and East Carolina erased an early deficit to top Campbell 13-10 Wednesday afternoon at Barker-Lane Stadium.
Campbell (3-4) jumped out to a 5-2 lead with
Shania Roehrich's goal with 5:57 to go in the second period, but the Pirates (6-5) scored eight of the next nine goals, including twice in the final 21 seconds of the third quarter, to go ahead 10-6 with 12:54 to play.
Joslin Hanbury's free position score with 5:19 remaining brought CU back within two at 11-9, but Bromley answered again for the Pirates, who held on for the 13-10 road win.
Bromley totaled six points on four goals and two assists for the Pirates, adding four caused turnovers and five ground balls. Megan Tryniski tacked on four points on three goals and an assist, while Frances Kimel and Leah Bestany added two goals apiece for ECU.
Brynn Knight also collected 13 saves in the win, while Jordyn Cox picked up five ground balls.
Sam Bischoff, meanwhile, led Campbell with two goals and an assist, with Roehrich adding two goals with two caused turnovers and two ground balls. Hanbury also scored twice for CU, while
Julianna Sanchez,
Mackenzie Kolesar and
Rasa Welsh collected a goal and an assist each.
Annie Ryan registered three caused turnovers with two ground balls on the day, with
Emma Strickland making eight saves.
Next up, the Camels will begin Big South play at High Point on Wednesday, March 30. Campbell will return home on April 2, hosting Winthrop for its 2022 Senior Day and Alumni Day.
