BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell logged a season-high 14 hits and
Logan Jordan had a huge day at the plate, but it wasn't enough as Campbell fell to Presbyterian 12-8 Saturday afternoon at Jim Perry Stadium.
The loss drops Campbell to 10-12, 1-1, while PC picks up its first conference win and improves to 9-13, 1-4 in the Big South.
Logan Jordan paced the offense by going 4-5 with two home runs, a double, three RBI and three runs scored. It's the first three extra base hit day by a Camel since
Connor Denning did so just over a year ago against Gardner-Webb on Mar. 6, 2021.
Jordan crushed a 443 foot solo home run to straight-away center in the fourth inning and followed with a two-run shot to left in the seventh. He is the first Camel to log a four-hit game this season.
Bryce Arnold also chipped in a three-hit day while Harrill and Pierson had two each.
Campbell fell behind big early, with PC tagging
Cade Kuehler for a seven-run second inning. The big inning featured two home runs among PC's seven hits with Campbell also committing an error in the frame where Presbyterian sent 11 batters to the plate.
It was a steady climb back for the Camels, but they couldn't quite complete the job. The potential tying run did reach the plate in the ninth with
Grant Knipp batting, but a hard-hit ball right at the center fielder ended the ballgame.
Waldy Arias hit the first home run of his career in the eighth inning, launching one 408 feet and over the party decks in left field.
Following Kuehler,
Jake Murray tossed two innings and allowed three runs,
Jordan Irizarry worked a scoreless frame and
Peyton Brown worked two innings and allowed one unearned run.
PC's Duncan Howard picked up the win, while Eric Toth got the save throwing only one pitch to get the final out.
The Camels and Blue Hose will play the series rubber match tomorrow at 2 p.m.
Aaron Rund is expected to start on the hill for Campbell. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
