BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Kayla Fredendall knocked in the go-ahead runs in the fifth inning as Campbell defeated Presbyterian, 3-1 Sunday at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium.
Campbell improves to 16-11 and 5-4 in conference play after taking the series over the Blue Hose. League leading Presbyterian falls to 20-7 overall and 6-3 in Big South play.
Presbyterian took an early lead on a leadoff home run in the second inning. Campbell answered to knot things up in the third as Madeleine Whiteley singled through the left side and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt from Diana Parker. Delaney McDilda drove in the tying run on a RBI single through the middle of the field.
The Camels loaded the bases in the fifth inning as Whiteley reached on an error while Claudia Ware and Savannah White earned walks. Fredendall drove in the two go-ahead runs in the next at bat after connecting on a hit to left field, just out of reach of Presbyterian's diving shortstop.
Georgeanna Barefoot (8-3) tossed her 10th complete game of the season, scattering eight hits and striking out nine batters in the win for Campbell.
Jenna Greene (10-4) took the loss in the circle for the Blue Hose after surrendering three runs in five innings before being replaced.
Whiteley joined Fredendall in going 2-for-3 at the plate. McDilda and Lindsey Hunt also collected hits for the Camels.
