Campbell holds off NC Central, 5-3

CARY, N.C. - Campbell held off a late NC Central rally and won 5-3, Wednesday afternoon at Thomas Brooks Park.

Campbell improves to 17-11 overall on the season while the Eagles drop to 6-19.

Delaney McDilda started a three-run first inning with a RBI double to left field. Noemi Cortez drove in another run on a fielder's choice with the bases loaded while McDilda stole home.

Savannah White scored on a sacrifice fly from Lindsey Hunt in the third. White crossed the plate again in the sixth inning on a wild pitch.

NC Central scored two runs and had the go-ahead run at the plate in the seventh, but a strikeout ended the Eagles' rally.

Isabella Smith picked up the win in the circle for the Camels after striking out seven with no walks, two hits and one earned run in four innings.

Kayla Howald took over pitching duties to start the fifth inning, allowing one hit and striking out two. Georgeanna Barefoot closed out the game in the seventh, scattering four hits and two earned runs while striking out two.

Ashanti Eubanks took the loss for NCCU after allowing four earned runs on five hits and six walks.

Campbell travels to NC A&T this weekend as it continues Big South play.
