BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Coming off its highest offensive performance so far this season, Campbell continues its road swing at Old Dominion on Saturday. The matchup gets underway at noon at ODU's L.R. Hill Sports Complex in Norfolk, Va.
Campbell (1-2) will be playing its second of three games in six days after Wednesday night's shootout at Elon. Campbell connected on a season-high 20 goals against the Phoenix and
Sam Bischoff posted a career-high six scores in a 22-20 defeat on the road.
The teams combined for 42 goals, the most in Campbell single-game history, breaking the previous mark of 41, set in 2015 (L 21-20 vs. Long Island).
Bischoff added four draw controls and a ground ball to go along with her game-high six goals.
Rasa Welsh ended the night with five points on two goals and an assist, while
Ally Heath,
Julianna Sanchez and
Mackenzie Kolesar notched three goals apiece. Sanchez also gathered 13 draw controls.
Megan Matthews also recorded a goal and two assists, with
Annie Ryan collecting two ground balls and two caused turnovers.
The Camels own one of the nation's top offenses, currently ranking third in NCAA Division I in scoring offense at 17.33 goals per game behind only Duke (21.83) and Maryland (17.50).
A sophomore from Pomona, N.Y., Bischoff leads the Camels with 15 points on 12 goals and three assists, while Matthews owns 11 points on six goals and five assists. Heath and Sanchez have also combined for 17 goals, with Sanchez adding 25 draw controls.
Rebekah Taylor has caused a team-high three turnovers with four ground balls, while
Emma Strickland owns nine ground balls with 28 saves.
ODU is 2-4 on the year following Wednesday's 18-7 loss at Liberty. Both of the Monarchs' victories this season have come against Big South opponents, including Radford 20-11 and Longwood 15-6.
Lilly Siskind leads ODU with 25 points on 16 goals and nine assists, with Maddie Mullenbach adding 13 points. Maria Rekus also owns 13 ground balls with nine caused turnovers.
Campbell is 0-3 all-time against the Monarchs, with the last two meetings (2016 and 2017) being decided by just two goals.
Following a neutral site matchup with Bucknell in Sparks, Md. on March 7, the Camels will make their home debut on March 19, hosting William & Mary.
