NORFOLK, VA. –
Julianna Sanchez posted a game-high seven points to lead Campbell over Old Dominion 13-12 on Saturday at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex.
Campbell improved to 2-2 on the season, while ODU dropped to 2-5.
Sanchez' fifth goal of the day gave Campbell a 13-10 lead with 6:56 to play before a pair of ODU scores, including Corrinne Stratton's third of the game with 2:01 remaining.
Rebekah Taylor controlled the ensuing draw and CU held on for the one goal win.
The Camels trailed 7-5 at the half before a six goal third period.
Sanchez tallied five goals with two assists and four draw controls, while
Megan Matthews posted five points on two goals and three assists.
Sam Bischoff also notched two goals and an assist, while
Rasa Welsh registered a goal and two assists.
Chandler Stewart collected two ground balls and two assists for the Camels, with
Emma Strickland making six saves.
Lilly Siskind led ODU with five points on three goals and two assists, with Stratton tacking on an assist in addition to her three goals. Tess Meurling and Sydney Taylor collected a goal and an assist apiece. Lauren Carey also picked up three ground balls with two caused turnovers, while Jenna Peccia made 14 saves.
Following a neutral site matchup with Bucknell in Sparks, Md. on March 7, the Camels will make their home debut on March 19, hosting William & Mary.
