Anna Nordfors is tied for third individually and Campbell is three strokes off the team lead after Wednesday's opening round of the Big South Championship at the Patriot GC at Grand Harbor.
The 54-hole stroke play concludes on Friday with the top four teams advancing to match play Saturday to determine the Big South's automatic bid in the NCAA regional championships (May 9-11). Live scoring is available at Golfstat.com.
USC Upstate (298) is the team leader, High Point (299) is second and the top-seeded Camels (301) third in the 11-team standings.
Caroline Engelbredt of Charleston Southern and High Point's Danielle Suh share the individual lead at one-over 73. Nordfors, who played her final six holes two under, is in a five-way tie for second at two-over 74.
Emily Hawkins is tied for eighth at 3-over 75, while
Sanna Lundmark and
Patricia Garre Munoz are tied for 13th at plus-four 76.
Tomita Arejola is tied for 26th at 6-over 78 on the 6297-yard Davis Love III design.
The five-time defending champion Camels will be paired with USC Upstate and High Point for Thursday's second round and start from the first tee at 8:50 a.m.
