RADFORD, VA. – Campbell secured the top seed in the Big South men's tennis tournament and at least a share of the regular season title Saturday with a 4-3 victory at Radford.
The Camels (14-4, 6-0) can win their first outright regular season crown since 1993 next Saturday with a victory over Presbyterian.
Campbell stretched its win streak to 11 matches by winning a pair of tiebreakers to claim the doubles point and splitting the singles against a Radford team (12-6, 6-1) that had won four-straight and 10 of its last 11.
Tomas Balazi and
Leon Petko earned the decisive point in doubles with a 7-6 (7-5) win at No. 2 after
Ted Williams and
Gustavs Lukstins prevailed in the tiebreak 7-2 at No. 3.
Balazi and
Pol Otin won in straight sets in singles for the second and third point in the dual match before
Noe Macquart prevailed 6-3, 7-6 (3) at No. 6 to determine the outcome.
Otin claimed his ninth-consecutive singles victory, while Macquart stretched his win streak to eight singles matches.
After winning the 2018 league tournament, the Camels shared the 2019 Big South regular season title with Gardner-Webb.
