Paladins end 7-game CU win streak

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Hannah Dintino scored with 1.7 seconds to play in the first overtime period to lift visiting Furman to a 16-15 victory over Campbell Saturday in women's lacrosse action at Barker-Lane Stadium.

Dintino finished with six goals for the Paladins (6-7, 6-2 Big South), who led 12-8 midway through the third quarter before the Camels rallied.

Shae Fitzgerald, Shania Roehrich, Grace Tompkins and Sam Bischoff scored in a 4-0 run by the Camels (10-5, 7-1) to knot the score at 12 with 1:05 left in the third.

Olivia Ohlmann, Tompkins and Bischoff all scored within a 2:45 span to give Campbell a 15-14 lead – its first since the end of the opening quarter – with 6:16 remaining.

Meagan Beal tied the score at 15 on her fourth goal of the game, and neither team was unable to hit the nets down the stretch.

Emma Strickland finished with 15 saves – eight in the fourth quarter – for the Camels, while Lily Rathbun made 11 stops in the Furman nets.  Rathbun saved Lexi McDaniel's free position attempt in the final minute to set up Dintino's winner that ended a seven-game win streak for CU.

Bischoff (3G, 1A), Tompkins (2G, 2A) and Megan Matthews (1G, 3A) led Campbell with four points apiece.

The Camels conclude the regular season Wednesday in a 3:00 p.m. start at league leader Mercer.  The Big South Championship starts with the third and fourth seeds hosting first round matches Apr. 30.
