RADFORD, VA. – Five Camels registered four or more points, leading visiting Campbell over Radford 18-3 on Wednesday afternoon at the RU Student Outdoor Recreation Complex.
Campbell moved to 3-0 in Big South play, and 6-4 overall, while Radford dipped to 1-9 on the season and 0-3 in conference games, picking up its eighth win in nine all-time meetings with the Highlanders.
CU matched a school record for fewest goals allowed in a game (3/20/16 at Mercer, 15-3; 4/5/17 vs. Presbyterian, 17-3), earning its largest margin of victory of the season.
The Camels outshot RU 38-10 and picked up 20 of 31 ground balls while forcing 22 turnovers for the second straight game. CU led 13-2 at the halftime break after a 7-0 second quarter.
Freshman
Kaitlyn Gallagher posted a game and season-high seven points on a goal and six assists, while
Joslin Hanbury scored a career-high six goals in the win.
Ally Heath punched in four goals, all in the first half, while
Megan Matthews added two goals and two assists, surpassing the 100 career points milestone in the process.
Sam Bischoff notched her fourth straight and seventh total hat trick of the season with three goals and an assist, while
Olivia Ohlmann scored twice.
Katie Ochall and
Rebekah Taylor each caused three turnovers, combining for nine ground balls, with
Maggie Dolan collecting eight draw controls.
Jessica Diorio led the Highlanders with a goal and an assist, with Laura Ferko causing three turnovers.
Campbell will continue Big South on the road on Saturday at Longwood (April 9). The Camels return home on April 13, hosting Gardner-Webb.
