FARMVILLE, VA. – Behind a career-high seven points from
Ally Heath, Campbell downed Longwood 17-10 Saturday on the road.
The Camels (7-4, 4-0 Big South) outscored the Lancers (5-7, 2-2 Big South) a combined 9-2 in the second and third quarters, remaining unbeaten through its first four Big South tests of the 2022 season. This is CU's second ever 4-0 start in conference play, and first since beginning 5-0 in 2017.
Heath scored a career-best six goals and added an assist, scoring all six goals in the Camels' decisive second and third quarters. Four different Camels have now scored five or more goals in a game this season.
Longwood jumped out to a 4-2 lead in the first behind two goals from Claire Libby before
Kyla Azzato's score, assisted by Heath, sparked a 5-0 CU run. After trailing 4-2, Campbell scored 15 of the game's next 19 goals, adding a 5-1 run in the fourth quarter.
Sam Bischoff scored four goals with four ground balls, three caused turnovers and four draw controls, while Azzato picked up two goals and an assist.
Joslin Hanbury tacked on two goals, while
Megan Matthews and
Lexi McDaniel posted a goal and an assist each.
Matthews also caused three turnovers, along with
Rebekah Taylor, while
Mackenzie Kolesar picked up three ground balls and scored a goal.
Libby scored three goals for the Lancers, while Emily Cate Smith collected a team-high five points on a goal and four assists. Haley Moomau tallied two goals and two assists. Hannah Tirrell also picked up five ground balls, with Amelia Carlile snagging 16 saves on 38 CU shots.
The Camels outshot LU 38-17 on the day, including 33-14 on goal, forcing a season-high 25 turnovers while converting 6-of-12 free position tries.
Campbell has now won five of the last six meetings against the Lancers.
The Camels return home on April 13, hosting Gardner-Webb.
