Cross country adds Darm as assistant coach

Former Campbell runner and assistant coach rejoins staff

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell cross country and track & field head coach Virgil Givens has announced the addition of Evan Darm as an assistant coach. Darm will work primarily with distance runners.

"I'm very excited about the addition of Coach Darm," said Givens. "He has shown that he's a good recruiter but even better developer. Evan will help our program reach phenomenal heights."

Darm rejoins the staff after serving as the head coach for cross country and assistant coach for track & field at Lincoln Memorial University located in Harrogate, Tenn. for the past two years. While at Lincoln Memorial, Darm coached two SAC conference champions in the 800m and in 2022 coached four runners who qualified for NCAA Division II Nationals in multiple events.

He was a member of the cross country and track & field program at Campbell achieving All-Big South honors in 2014 and graduated in 2015 with a B.S. in exercise science.

Following the conclusion of his career as a runner, Darm served as a graduate assistant for track & field at Campbell until 2017. He then served one more year as a volunteer assistant coach for the 17-18 season. He helped the men's cross country team to Big South conference championships in 2016 and 2017. Darm also received a M.Ed. in interdisciplinary studies from Campbell in 2017.

He spent one year at Adrian College in Michigan where he served as an assistant cross country and track & field coach.

Darm then returned to Campbell for a year helping the Camels to a men's cross country conference championship in 2019 before leaving for Lincoln Memorial in 2020.
