COLUMBIA, S.C. – Cristiano Bruletti scored the game's only goal in the 20th minute to lift South Carolina over Campbell Saturday night at Eugene E. Stone III Stadium.
Despite outshooting the Gamecocks (3-3-1) by a 14-7 margin and taking nine corner kicks to none for the hosts, the Camels (3-2-2) suffered their second shutout loss of the season.
Sean Ellis made four saves in the Camel nets, but Campbell had only three attempts on target, all stopped by Gamecock keeper Ben Alexander.
Kemy Amiche nearly equalized in the 28th minute, but a USC defender cleared his shot off the line. Campbell held a 7-2 edge in shots in the final half.
The Camels return home Wednesday to host No. 23 UNCG at 7:00 p.m.
