WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - Monmouth defeated Campbell 1-0 Saturday afternoon at The Great Lawn at Hesse Field.
The loss knocks Campbell (4-6-4, 2-4-2 CAA) out of one of two remaining spots for the CAA Championship while Monmouth (8-3-5, 5-1-2) clinched a share of the conference regular season title. It marks the first time since 2016 that Campbell will miss out on postseason play.
Monmouth scored the lone goal of the match in the 45th minute, just 40 seconds until the halftime break, behind the effort of Ben Zakowski.
Campbell's best attempt came in the 82nd minute as Jake Robert's header off a free kick was saved.
The Hawks out-shot the Camels 12-8, 7-1 in attempts on target. Samy Slimi made six saves between the posts for Campbell.
It marked the final game in the Orange & Black for seniors Angel Bacho, Bissafi Dotte, Kyoji Hata and Hunter Johnson. The class combined for five conference trophies and two NCAA Tournament appearances. Dotte leaves the program with 75 starts in 76 appearances, both ranking top-10 in program history.
