KNOXVILLE, TENN. – Campbell sits in sixth place after the first day of action at the CCSA Championship, held this year at the Jones Aquatic Center in Knoxville, Tenn. Seven Camels qualified for the evenings three event finals on Wednesday, and one school record was set on the day.
Katarina Gagnon finished 18
th and broke the five-minute mark in the 500 free at 4:59.79, shaving over three seconds off her prelim time from the morning session.
Three Camels earned a spot in the 200 IM finals. Maialen Supdupe led the way with a personal best 2:05.23 to finish 13th. A pair of freshmen, Lauren McClean and
Laura Lopez, each swam in the C Final and finished 18
th and 22
nd, respectively.
Meredith Ashburn set the school's 50 free record twice on the day, once in the prelims and then bounced back to set it again in the finals with a time of 23.04. Ashburn finished 8
th in the event, the highest individual finish of the day for the Camels.
Elishka Hajek finished 13
th and
Colleen Renshaw 20
th in the same event.
The first night wrapped up with the 200 medley relay team finishing 6
th.
Day two gets underway tomorrow at 10 a.m. with the finals to follow at 6 p.m. All the action will be streamed again on ESPN+.
