BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell (7-5) split games in Day one of the Camel Stampede falling to Duke (11-3) and defeating Wagner (2-3) in a not so typical walk-off.

9:00 A.M. – Ohio 3, Rider 0
11:30 A.M. – Duke 4, Rider 0
2:00 P.M. – Wagner 5, Ohio 2
4:30 P.M. – Duke 7, Campbell 0
7:00 P.M. – Wagner 2, Campbell 3
Game one – Duke defeats Campbell, 7-0
The Blue Devils got on the board in the second with a two-run home run from Francesca Frelick.
Deja Davis went 2-3 with three runs and a walk and Sarah Goddard went 2-2 with a run and two RBIs for Duke.
Campbell was unable to get anything going offensively as Jala Wright (3-2) and Lillie Walker held the Camels to only three hits. Wright earned the win, allowing no runs on two hits, walking one and striking out four through six innings.
Claudia Ware and
Lindsey Hunt each went 1-3 for the Camels at the plate.
Isabella Smith (5-3) received the loss, giving up six runs on seven hits.
Game two – Camels walk-off Seahawks, 3-2
In the bottom of the seventh,
Erin Rafferty took off from third towards home on a wild pitch and was ruled safe on an obstruction call on the Wagner catcher resulting in a 3-2 walk-off win for the Fighting Camels.
Campbell jumped out to an early lead scoring a run in the first on a sacrifice bunt by
Tyra Parker and then added another in the third on an RBI single by
Lindsey Hunt.
Hunt went 1-2 with an RBI and a walk and
Alyssa Henault went 1-2 with a run.
Tyra Parker had a series of spectacular plays in the field including a play in the sixth inning where she reached over the wall in foul territory to make the catch.
The Seahawks tied the game in the sixth with a two-run home run from Mackenzie Vogler. Bianca Worthy went 3-3 and Vogler went 1-3 with 2 RBIs.
Kayla Howald (1-2) earned her first win of the year pitching all seven innings only allowing two runs on six while striking out six.
Natalie Rodriguez (0-1) was given the loss going 6.2 innings allowing three runs on four hits and walking five batters.
Campbell continues play in the Camel Stampede tomorrow at 11:30 A.M. vs Rider and 2:00 P.M. vs Ohio.
