Second half surge leads Camels over Marist 18-11

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell outscored Marist 10-2 in the second half, coming from behind to top visiting Marist, 18-11 Wednesday night at Barker-Lane Stadium.

Campbell moved to 4-3 on the season, while Marist dipped to 2-5.

The Red Foxes jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the first, led by two scores apiece from Olivia Arntsen and Kerri Gutenberger, and held a 9-4 advantage after Alexa Borges second goal of the game at the 11:32 mark of the second quarter.

From there, Campbell outscored Marist 14-2 over the remainder of the game. The Camels owned the edge 14-4 over the game's final three periods, and 10-2 in the second half.

Joslin Hanbury led the Camels with a career-high seven points on five goals and two assists, including four scores and both helpers coming in CU's decisive run. Sam Bischoff added five points on three goals and two assists, while Olivia Ohlmann scored a career-high four goals in the win.

Ally Heath and Delaney Nicolaus also posted two goals and an assist each, with Rasa Welsh snagging seven draw controls and an assist.

Defensively, Chandler Stewart and Rebekah Taylor both tallied three caused turnovers and four ground balls, while Katie Ochall also picked up four ground balls with two caused turnovers and six draw controls. Emma Strickland came off the bench for the final 50:47, making 10 saves, including five in the fourth period, adding a ground ball.

Gutenberger paced Marist with four goals and an assist with 10 draw controls, while Kelly Trotta also notched five points on two goals and an assist with four ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Next up, CU will host Coastal Carolina on March 25. The Camels open Big South play at home, hosting Radford on March 29.
