BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Coastal Carolina used a nine goal third period, including three scores from Alyson Mascolo, to down Campbell 24-12 on Saturday at Barker-Lane Stadium.
The Chanticleers moved to 6-3 on the season, while the Camels round out nonconference play at 4-4 overall.
In a tie game at 7-7 with 3:59 to go in the second, Coastal scored back to back goals to close the quarter and continued the run with three straight to open the third period, wrapping an 11-2 run around the half.
The Chanticleers outscored CU 15-5 in the second half, outshooting the Camels 26-15 and winning the draw 14-7 in the final two quarters.
Mascolo posted four goals for the Chanticleers, while Kayla Downey notched a game-high eight points on five goals and three assists. Avery McIlwaine also gathered five points on a goal and four assists, while Brigid Cardillo, Bethany Bruck and Monica Manley all added three points.
Devin Rybacki also picked up 14 draw controls for Coastal, while Mia Sheldon caused three turnovers with two ground balls, and Claire Martell made 11 saves.
Sam Bischoff and
Olivia Ohlmann each gathered four points on three goals and an assist for the Camels, with Bischoff recording six draw controls and two caused turnovers, and Ohlmann tacking on four ground balls.
Joslin Hanbury also posted four points on two goals and two assists, while
Rasa Welsh was credited with two goals and an assist.
Next up, the Camels will open Big South play at home, taking on Radford on Wednesday, March 29 at 6:00 p.m.
