CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Seventh-seeded Campbell (14-17, 8-10) continues play in the Hercules Tires Big South Championship Friday with a 6 p.m. quarterfinal round tip against 2nd-seeded Longwood (20-11, 12-6). The winner will advance to Saturday's 2 p.m. semifinal against Radford or Winthrop.
Campbell defeated Presbyterian Wednesday 68-63 in the first round.
Jay Pal led the Camels with 19 points, while
Anthony Dell'Orso (15),
Ricky Clemons (13) and
Laurynas Vaistaras (11) also hit double digits.
Longwood is coming off a 76-66 loss Saturday to regular season champ UNC Asheville. The defending Big South champion Lancers have won 5 of their last 7 games.
LWU swept the season series from Campbell, claiming a 67-42 victory Jan. 31 in Buies Creek and a 74-50 win Feb. 4 in Farmville, Va.
NOTES:
- Campbell and Longwood are meeting for the first time ever in Big South tournament play. Longwood is 9-9 all time in the league tourney after defeating Winthrop 79-58 in last year's final.
- Campbell owns an 18-19 record all-time in Big South tourney play, 5-1 in the semifinal round and 1-5 in the finals.
- Since returning to the Big South from the ASUN in 2011-12, Campbell owns a 10-11 record in league championship tournament play.
