No. 15 Campbell falls at William & Mary

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -  No. 15 Campbell's bats cooled off Tuesday night as Campbell fell to William & Mary 3-2. Campbell was held to a season-low three hits on the night and saw the seven-game win streak snapped.

The Camels fall to 19-4, while William & Mary improves to 15-11.

Hunter Loyd turned in a solid start for the Camels, working into the sixth inning and allowing just three runs and striking out six. All three runs were surrendered in the third inning, with the Tribe stringing together a walk and three singles to go ahead 3-0.

After being held without a hit in the first four innings, Trenton Harris notched Campbell's first hit and first run with one swing in the fifth, a solo shot to left. A pair of walks set up an RBI single by Tyler Halstead later in the same inning to get within a run.

That turned out to be the end of the run scoring for the night, as Ty Cumming and Cam O'Brien kept W&M off the board, and Carter Lovasz did the same for the Tribe.

The Camels never threatened late, logging only one hit across the final three innings. That potential tying run advanced to second on an error, but couldn't be pushed across.

The Fighting Camels return home this weekend for a three-game series against Charleston Southern. Friday night's game will feature the Jim Perry jersey retirement ceremony pregame, and Friday night fireworks postgame. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
