Jim Perry Jersey Retirement
Campbell Baseball will officially be retiring Jim Perry's #31 prior to Friday night's game. Perry played both baseball and basketball at Campbell from 1956-59 before going on to have a 17 year MLB career. Perry was a three-time all-star and the 1970 American League Cy Young winner for the Minnesota Twins. Perry made 447 starts and won 215 games, including a Major League best 24 games during his Cy Young season.

Perry and his wife Daphne's generosity have been instrumental in growing the Campbell baseball program. Jim Perry Stadium first opened in 2013, and underwent a transformation in 2017 that included the addition of the Jim and Daphne Perry Pavilion to house locker rooms, offices, and meeting spaces.

Series History
The Camels and Buccaneers have met 73 times, with Campbell owning a 43-30 advantage. The teams did not meet during the 2022 regular season, but faced off three times at the Big South tournament. After CSU downed Campbell in the first game of the tournament, Campbell battled back to face the Bucs in the championship. Campbell topped CSU 10-6 in the first game, and 3-2 in the winner-take-all to punch a ticket to the NCAA tournament.

Know Your Opponent
CSU brings  a 12-14, 4-2 record into the weekend. The Bucs swept their first league series against UNC Asheville and dropped last weekend's 2-1 to Presbyterian. Daniel Padysak, a CSU reliever, was the only active college player to appear in the World Baseball Classic, taking the mound for the Czech Republic.

The Bucs are led by Marc MacMillan. CSU was picked to finish seventh in the Big South preseason poll, but did receive one first place vote.

Last Time Out
Campbell dropped the final game of its five-game road trip in a 3-2 loss at William & Mary. The Tribe got three in the third, and Campbell responded with two in the fifth to account for all of the night's scoring. The W&M pitching staff held a red-hot Campbell offense to just three hits on the night.
