BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell used a 7-0 third quarter to race past visiting Old Dominion 14-7 on Saturday at Barker-Lane Stadium.
The Camels moved to 3-2 on the season, and 2-0 at home, defeating the Monarchs (3-4) for the second straight season.
ODU led 5-3 after Molly May's third goal of the day with 3:18 to go in the second quarter before
Rasa Welsh and
Kyla Azzato goals tied the game heading into the half. The two goals were part of a nine goal run for the Camels, who blanked the Monarchs in the third while notching seven scores.
Six Camels tallied three or more points in the win, including Welsh, who led CU on the offensive end with five points on two goals and three assists, adding a pair of ground balls.
Ally Heath,
Olivia Ohlmann,
Lexi Goff and Azzato all registered two goals and an assist, with
Grace Tompkins posting a goal and two helpers.
Chandler Stewart, meanwhile, caused three turnovers with two ground balls, with
Shae Fitzgerald notching two ground balls and a caused turnover, headlining nine different Camels to caused ODU turnovers on the day.
Natalie Mellen and
Emma Strickland also split time in goal, making three saves apiece.
May led ODU with three goals, while Danielle Dundas recorded three points on two goals and an assist. In goal, Jenna Peccia made 12 saves, facing 32 Campbell shots, with four ground balls.
