Clemson defeats Camels 18-7

CLEMSON, S.C. – Three Tigers posted hat tricks to lead Clemson over visiting Campbell 18-7 on Wednesday at Riggs Field.

Clemson moved to 6-2 on the season, while Campbell, which won back to back games heading into Wednesday's contest, fell to 3-3 overall.

Campbell led 4-3 with 12:08 on the clock in the second after Ally Heath's free position goal, but the Tigers closed the half with a 4-0 run, taking a 7-4 lead into the break.

Rasa Welsh and Olivia Ohlmann goals early in the third brought the Camels back within 8-6, but nine straight Clemson goals, including three from Jalyn Jimerson kept the Tigers out front for good, outscoring Campbell 11-3 in the second half.

The Tigers outshot Campbell 29-18 on the day, including a 16-6 second half margin, and won 11-of-16 second half draws after an even 6-6 first two periods. The Camels were also credited with 21 turnovers, compared to just 11 for Clemson.

Jimerson led Clemson with a game-high four goals, scoring on all four of her shot attempts, while Hanna Hilcoff posted four points on three goals and an assist, adding three ground balls. Marina Miller also scored three goals with five draw controls, three ground balls and three caused turnovers. Emily Lamparter also made eight saves for the Tigers in goal.

Welsh tallied three points on a goal and two assists for the Camels, while Delaney Nicolaus gathered a goal and an assist. Shae Fitzgerald registered three ground balls with three draw controls, with Natalie Mellen and Emma Strickland combining for nine saves.

Next up, the Camels will return home for the first of a three game homestand on March 15, hosting Marist.
