BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Campbell rallied to defeat Gardner-Webb 4-3 in Big South Conference men's tennis action Monday at the Webb Tennis Complex.
After Gardner-Webb claimed the doubles point, CU trailed 3-1 in the team score with the only point coming through
Damien Nezar's straight-sets win at No. 1 singles.
However,
Tomas Balazi,
Benjamin Maes and
Lukas Steffen won 3-set matches to send the Camels to their seventh victory in their last eight outings.
Balazi trailed 3-2 in the third, while Maes was down 4-0 before winning seven of the next eight games. Steffen, who won a first-set tiebreaker, provided the decisive point at No. 3 singles, 6-4 in the third.
Campbell (7-4) leveled its Big South Conference record at 1-1 after Saturday's 4-3 loss at Presbyterian. The Camels return to action Tuesday with a 2:30 p.m. first serve at Wofford.
