Camels split doubleheader at NC A&T

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Campbell split its doubleheader at North Carolina A&T Tuesday afternoon from the Lady Aggie Softball Complex.

Campbell moves to 28-11 on the season while NC A&T moves to 12-26.

Game One: Campbell 5, NC A&T 1
Campbell picked up a 5-1 win over NC A&T in the first game of the doubleheader.

Delaney McDilda drove in the first run of the game on a RBI single to right field in the second inning.

Campbell added to its lead in the fourth as Savannah White drove in one run and scored herself in the same play after an errant throw by NC A&T's shortstop had the ball end up in the Campbell dugout.

The Camels added two more runs in the sixth following on an error by the Aggies' right fielder and a sacrifice fly from Tyra Parker.

Isabella Smith (18-9) tossed a complete game for the Camels, allowing five hits, one earned run and 11 strikeouts.

Megan Ellis (4-3) took the loss for the Aggies after she pitched the first four innings, allowing one earned run on six hits.

Game Two: NC A&T 2, Campbell 1
Alyxx Estrada drove in two runs in the seventh to knock off Campbell 2-1 in the final game of the doubleheader.

The Camels broke a stalemate in the top of the seventh as McDilda drove in the first run of the game with a hit to left field.

NC A&T answered later on in the seventh as the Aggies put two runners on and scored the winning runs on a hit from Estrada.

Jaimee Hardy started in the circle for the Camels, throwing the first six innings where she allowed just four hits, one walk and struck out five. Smith (18-10) took the loss in relief after entering the game in the seventh inning.

Sharla Kirkpatrick (1-3) picked up the win for the Aggies, allowing eight hits, one earned run with no strikeouts or walks.

McDilda went 3-for-3 in the game while Hardy finished 2-for-3 with one run.
