CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Gardner-Webb earned the No. 1 seed in the Big South Men's Tennis Championship. The Runnin' Bulldogs finished as regular-season co-champions with Campbell and Presbyterian with 4-1 Big South records and earned the top seed via the league's tiebreaker.
Campbell, which has won back-to-back regular season titles, earned the No. 2 seed, with PC landing the third seed. The three squads went 1-1 against each other, and the tiebreaker process reached the fourth level – aggregate match score against teams tied at that position. GWU was a collective 8-6 vs. Campbell/Presbyterian, followed by Campbell at 7-7 and Presbyterian at 6-8. Radford received the fourth and final seed based on its 2-3 league record.
The Camels defeated PC 4-3 in the 2022 Big South semifinals before falling to Radford by the same score in the title match.
Presbyterian dealt Campbell its lone Big South loss this season, by a 4-3 mark on Mar. 4 at Clinton, S.C. The Camels downed Gardner-Webb 4-3 two days later at Boiling Springs, N.C. CU closed league play Thursday with a 7-0 victory over Radford in Buies Creek.
The 2023 Big South Men's Tennis Championship will be played Friday-Saturday, April 21-22 at the Marion Diehl Tennis Center in Charlotte. The Big South's Tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Men's Tennis Championship.
